  1. Florence, 1501

Michelangelo was 26 when they handed him a block of marble two sculptors before him had given up on. Three years later, it was David.

This room is where I'm working on mine. Welcome to the studiolo of Mauritz Degransart.

  2. I · The teacher

    It started in a classroom.

Teacher of History & Geography, cum laude. Three years explaining the world to the toughest audience there is: sixteen-year-olds.

  3. II · The journey

    Then the map got bigger.

An Erasmus semester in Oulu, Finland, opened my world — and gave me friends on every side of it.

  4. III · The builder

    So I started building.

A history game tested by 45 students. A booking website for a brasserie with thousands of guests a month. Ideas, turned into things people use.

  5. IV · The student

    I never stopped reading.

Strategy, money, character. Thirteen books that rearranged how I think.

  6. V · After hours

When the work is done, I play.

Seventy-one songs on the piano. Thirteen I could play in my sleep.

  7. VI · Why I look up

    And I always look up.

Fighter jets, since I was a kid. Some things you never outgrow.

  8. The overview

Six chapters. Pick one — or keep scrolling and I'll tell them in order.

Chapter I

The teacher

Before business, there was a classroom. Three years of teaching History & Geography taught me more about people than any course could.

Today's lesson

  1. Read the room before you speak.
  2. Make the complicated simple.
  3. Keep them curious.

Chapter II

The journey

Fourteen places, told by the compass rather than the calendar: south to the sun, across the Atlantic, into the Arctic and up the Baltic, to the one that changed everything. Strap in.

Take-off

Izegem

Belgium

Home. Where every flight starts.

Final destination

Oulu, Finland

Spring 2026. An Erasmus+ semester at the University of Oulu, less than two hundred kilometres from the Arctic Circle.

This is where my world opened. I met people from every corner of the map: real people, with real dreams and real passion. I'm still in touch with them today.

Messages from the friends I made here: coming soon.

Chapter III

The builder

Ideas are cheap until someone uses them. These are the ones I took all the way. Pull a file from the drawer.

Herodocus

A history game that doesn't teach students what to think. It teaches them to doubt.

The question

Students meet more sources in a day than ever before, but rarely ask who made one, when, and why. Source criticism is usually taught as a checklist. I wanted them to feel it.

What I built

A two-day investigation. Players move between five locations — the lab, the headquarters, the archive, the university and the field — on an hour-by-hour timeline. They chase leads, question sources, meet halfway, and end by writing one final report together. The physical game comes with a web platform I built myself using AI-assisted development.

Chapter IV

The student

Always stay a student. Thirteen books that rearranged how I think, guarded by the man who started it all. Pull one off the shelf.
